The Nicolaysen Art Museum

The Nicolaysen art museum wanted to have a short documentary video to show at their annual gala fundraising event that highlighted the museums past while also looking towards the future for it’s 30 year anniversary.  It was important for this video to strike an emotional and nostalgic chord with the 300 people that attended the Gala.

We filmed 5 events that the Nic puts on throughout the year. 4K resolution b-roll, moving time-lapses, and drone footage was used to make create the cinematic for this short documentary.  We also filmed 2 days of interviews with people from the museums past as well as its present leaders.  Studio lighting and professional audio equipment was utilized in different locations in the museum to highlight its many areas and space.  Archive footage of the board president meeting with the city council and some old advertisements from the 1980’s were acquired and adding this footage into the doc was one of our favorite parts of editing this whole piece.  The video was shown at the Gala event, and was put on the museum website and also shared on social media.  Editing this piece was a huge project – over 100 hours in total to create this video.
